Course Introduction
The General English Fluency course with 26 lessons per week (GE26) is a language rich programme that helps teachers and language students upgrade their level of English for everyday social and workplace communication. The afternoon cultural programme also allows participants to explore the city and get a sense of what makes Dublin a vibrant European capital city.
Who is it for?
Teachers and language students alike who need English to interact effectively with students, colleagues and friends. Participants can have any level of English from A1 (Elementary) to C1 (Advanced) to join this course.
Course Format
This Erasmus+ General English Language Training course is a year-round and can be from one to twelve weeks long. It consists of 26 classroom-based sessions per week, including an afternoon cultural and social programme.
- 26 lessons of group tuition / week
- 1 lesson = 50 minutes
- 5 mornings of classes on our General English Fluency programme (20 lessons)
- 2 afternoons of GEF Plus classes or, for B2/C1 students, on either our
- Future Professional Skills Programme (e.g., giving presentations, academic writing, email writing and etiquette)
- Environment & Sustainability Programme (e.g., fast clothing, slow tourism, smart cities)

Course Aims
To effectively prepare and structure presentations and lectures – introductions, key points, explaining visual information, and conclusions.
To manage and participate in tutorials and meetings (in-person and Zoom) – setting the agenda, discussion management and time management.
To better decode and respond to oral and written messages (cross-cultural communication).
To promote awareness of Irish culture and society through topical, collaborative lessons.
Demonstrate increased control and flexibility over a range of grammatical structures and functions to communicate ideas for a range of academic purposes.
Methodology
Students are expected to actively participate in all pair work, small group and whole class tasks and activities. Participants should try to use new language in class, to ask questions, and to listen carefully to teacher feedback on how to say things better. Critical thinking and active peer and self-evaluation are essential for the course.
During the course participants will also take part in a range of afternoon activities where they will be encouraged to develop their language skills in a more informal environment outside the classroom and further enhance their knowledge of contemporary Ireland and the vibrant city of Dublin.
